Throughout the season (Sept - May) we offer a number of informative lectures, and details of forthcoming and recent presentations can be seen on our News tab.  These are currently being provided via Zoom.  Our lectures are open to non-club members who are very welcome to book a 'virtual' seat by using the Contact Us tab.

There's never an excuse for lounging around on the beach like Homer Simpson in the picture above!  Both during and after the season ends in May we plan a number of extra activities for club members.  Subject to complying with any COVID restrictions, these will include practical workshops, walks, talks and outings, so bring your camera along and join us for some 'extra curricular' activity!

Our Monday evening meetings are at the present time held on Zoom.

On our Programme tab.....
Sadly, the introduction of the lockdown in March meant that the remaining events listed for 2019/20 on the PROGRAMME tab were cancelled.  However, an exciting new Programme for 2020/21 has now been uploaded to that page - check it out!

In non COVID times, our regular Monday evening meetings are held at our home venue, St John's Hall on the corner of Meads Road and Meads Street, during the club season that runs from September to May.  New members at any level of skill are welcome, so why not join? (currently free) - see Find Us for details of our Meads Street 'home' where we will be meeting again during the season when normality returns.

SUMMER WALKS

When they resume, all will start at 2.30pm and last for about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Information on any walks listed below will be sent out ahead of time.

Next 'summer' walk

(To be announced)

As always all are welcome; members, friends, and new members.

Any queries to Julian on 0 77 99 11 55 40 .

If weather conditions are questionable on the day of any walk then an email will be sent out by 10.30am if it is to be cancelled.
Any queries, please ring Julian - his contact number is listed in the Members Area - Committee tab.

Practical workshop dates for your diary.

Practical tuition workshops cover the essentials to get you going in various photographic disciplines.  Ideal for beginners and those wanting to develop their photographic skills.

For each subject, members attending will receive a printed  'quick reference' guide to take away, giving you actual settings to try out on your camera to get results. All members are welcome including more experienced members who are happy to support those developing their skills.

UPDATE - 23/11/20   Regretably, all workshops have been suspended due to the current COVID19 lockdown.  As the situation improves and restrictions are relaxed again, they will be reinstated so check here again whenever there are changes to the COVID rules on socialising.

Low Light Photography, took place on Friday 18th September at 6.30pm.
This was a successful event and members were very happy to see each other.  We took some interesting photos down at the sea front between the pier and the WishTower area.  On seeing us with our gear and tripods all set up while we waited for the light to go down, passing members of the public asked us if "something big was about to happen?".

Street Photography,  Saturday 24th October
We had a good morning taking pictures along and around Eastbourne seafront.  The weather held up (just about).  We discussed techniques which were then put in to practice and had an enjoyable shoot.

Nature Photography Suspended 2/11/20
We will be photographing the flora and fauna of the South Downs.

Landscape Photography, Sunday 15th November  Suspended 2/11/20
Landscape is often about catching great and unusual light and that's what we're planning to do for this event.  Consequently, we're going to have to meet horribly early - at 6.00am for the start of Nautical Twilight.  This will mean you should witness the sun rise out of the sea, over 30 miles away, off the coast of Hastings as we observe from an elevation of more than 600ft on the South Downs.  Don't worry, you can drive your car up to Butts Brow car park where we'll meet and then walk along the top of the Downs with only mild slopes to negotiate.  Once we've done the sunrise looking East, we'll turn Westerly and take pictures of the rolling Downs bathed in early morning light as we look towards Filching and Jevington.  Well, that's the plan and it all depends on the weather of course!  Keep an eye out for updates.

Meet for this event at Butts Brow car park on the Southdowns.  See map below.

Summer Walks in 2018 and 2019 provided a great opportunity to get out and about with friends - and with cameras, of course!
Below are some of the pics taken by members of the group.  Roll on 2021!
